How CBD Ice Pain Relief Works

Let’s start with a strange question.
What is pain?
We all know what pain feels like, right? But how do scientists and medics define pain?
“Pain is a signal in your nervous system that something may be wrong. It is an unpleasant feeling, such as a prick, tingle, sting, burn, or ache. Pain may be sharp or dull.” [1]
Another site goes further by reminding us that pain not only hurts us physically but it also messes with our emotions.
“Pain is an unpleasant sensation and emotional experience that links to tissue damage. It allows the body to react and prevent further tissue damage. People feel pain when a signal travels through nerve fibers to the brain for interpretation.” [2]
So what can we do about pain?
Let me address two things here.
- CBD for pain
- Ice for pain.
First, let’s talk about CBD. “The evidence from current research supports the use of medical cannabis to help relieve chronic pain in adults.” So says “Cannabinoids and Pain: New Insights from Old Molecules”, published by Frontiers in Pharmacology. The paper explains that the CBD in cannabis “is thought to have significant analgesic [pain-relieving], anti-inflammatory, anti-convulsant and anxiolytic [anxiety-reducing] activities without the psychoactive effect of THC.” [3]
Did you see that? No psychoactive effect. CBD will not make you ‘high’.
Another research paper, titled “Cannabinoids in the management of difficult to treat pain” [4], also reports positively on the pain-mitigating ability of cannabidiol (CBD).
Now, let’s talk about ice for pain, which you could call cryotherapy.
What’s cryotherapy, you ask?
Cryo is an ancient Greek word meaning “icy cold, chill, frost”. I learned that from Wikipedia, by the way. And cryotherapy is any medical treatment using cold.
But why did I mention that?
Because the menthol which is included in our CBD Ice Pain Relief Roll On is a cooling agent. And as the painful part of your body is cooled down by the menthol, your pain is reduced.
How does the menthol help with pain relief?
Biological science tells us, “Topical menthol application produces a cool sensation by activation of the TRPM8 channel.” [5]
Never heard of it? Don't worry. Because we’re now going to take a practical look at marvelous menthol.
Why menthol? - A story from the slaughterhouse
“Menthol has been shown to possess analgesic properties, thereby reducing the sensation of pain.” [6]
Over in Denmark, they did a comparison study involving 645 slaughterhouse workers who each had symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). They were divided into two groups. One was given a topical menthol, the other received a placebo (which was an inert gel with a menthol scent).
After several days, they swapped around. The group that got the placebo was given the topical menthol, and the other group received the other test product.
Results?
It was confirmed once again that menthol reduces pain and is a viable alternative to pharma drugs. The report said…
“Topical menthol application acutely reduces pain intensity among slaughterhouse workers with chronic pain and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome compared with placebo. Thus, topical menthol should be considered as an effective nonsystemic alternative to regular analgesics in the workplace management of chronic, localized musculoskeletal, and neuropathic pain.” [7]
So there you have it. Menthol gives pain relief. And it’s fast-acting, unlike pharmaceutical preparations which take a while to kick in.
The GoHemp Ice Pain Relief Roll On with menthol is a cryo-based topical pain reliever, conveniently packaged in a portable roll-on applicator.
What’s it good for?
- Arthritis joints
- Muscle spasms and cramps
- Musculoskeletal stiffness
- Neck pain
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Plantar fasciitis pain
- Post surgery soreness or pain
- Sore muscles from athletic activity
- Sports injuries … AND MUCH MORE.
Benefits of a roll-on
The two big advantages of a roll-on, of course, are…
- you don't have to get your hands messy. It’s non-greasy and easy to apply.
- it’s portable. You can keep it in your pocket or purse for quick and discreet use any time, or in your gym bag if you feel muscular discomfort after a workout.
Just roll the applicator over the trouble spots and enjoy the speedy relief.
But that’s not all. Our CBD pain relief product is non-toxic and non-addictive.
What’s in it?
Natural ingredients that are designed for wellness. We use only quality non-GMO ingredients. And we do NOT use preservatives, steroids, parabens, petroleum, phthalates, artificial dyes, or fragrances.
Using our roll-on
A few pointers that we wanted to be sure everyone knows...
- Don't use on open wounds or damaged skin or near your eyes.
- Don't use if you have a medical condition without consulting your doctor.
- Don't use in conjunction with any pharmaceutical medication without consulting your doctor.
- Store at room temperature. Don't leave it in your car in summer.
Is your CBD+menthol product available in any other format?
Indeed it is.
It’s also available as a Pain Relief Cream in a 300mg jar.
Both products contain our fast-acting cooling topical, formulated with menthol and other natural ingredients to naturally help relieve muscle and joint pain.
They’ve both been created using our high-quality broad spectrum hemp extract to help relieve discomfort without resorting to pharmaceutical pain medications.
Is it legal?
It sure is. Both the roll-on and the cream contain less than the legally-specified maximum of 0.3 percent THC, which means they are legal to use throughout the USA and you can NOT get high from using our CBD-plus-menthol offerings to take care of your pain points.
Two options
When you’re looking for a CBD pain reliever with a touch of cryotherapy, our menthol-infused CBD preparation is available in two packages. Either way, you’ve got a natural alternative to OTC pain drugs.
And if you’d like to attack your pain from two sides, you can combine one of the Ice Pain products with our delicious CBD Gummies. They’re dairy-free, fat-free, gluten-free, and MSG-free. On top of that, they contain no artificial sweeteners, no peanuts, no tree nuts and zero THC. Oh yes, they’re also low sodium. Click here to take a look at our CBD Gummies.
